Secure Communications
Protecting your data begins with securing the communications that take place on the Internet so that you can keep your important financial data private.
Encryption is the way your browser translates everything that you send into a code that can only be deciphered by our computers at Ascencia. What eavesdroppers get is useless garble. We utilize the most secure Web browser technology available today to protect our customers. Communication containing confidential information between Ascencia and its customers is encoded using the most recent release of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology with encryption keys of up to 128 bits. In order to provide such a high standard of security, we use security features that require all customers to use Internet Browsers that support 128 Bit Encryption. These include Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or higher), Netscape Navigator (version 4.06 or higher) and Netscape Communicator (version 4.06 or higher). Your Internet Service Provider can help you obtain the correct browser. To check your browser, go to Browsers in the Customer Service section.

A Secure House for your Data

Firewall Technology
In order to defend against entry by hackers, Ascencia uses the latest in firewall technology from one of the market's leading firewall providers. At the core of our network are multiple firewalls to ensure the safety of your information. These firewalls monitor and control the flow of all communications to and from Ascencia. This allows us to prevent any unauthorized entry into our network.

Security Reviews
Even though our security system is virtually impenetrable, we continuously strive to improve it through periodic audits and close monitoring of all transactions originating from, or being sent to the Internet. In addition, we strictly adhere to the rules and regulations for security set forth by the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), and work closely with all of our key hardware and software manufacturers to ensure the safest possible environment for you and your money.

Secure Storage
All of your password information and banking data are completely isolated from the Internet so it cannot be accessed or downloaded by anyone but dedicated Customer Service Representatives. Also, our banking office has implemented extensive security measures to protect the databases that store your data.

Password Protection
Even though we've built a secure fortress around your data, you must protect your password. When changing your password, we can't emphasize enough the importance of picking a good, secure password. It should be a password that is not easily guessed by another person. It's very important to keep this password in a safe place and to change it frequently.

Some important guidelines on password selection:
  1. Choose a password that is 6 to 20 characters long, with as many different characters as possible and at least one numeric and one alpha character.
  2. Attempt to stray from personal information such as your name, social security number, birth date, phone number, or spouse's name. Also steer clear of words or names listed in a standard dictionary.
  3. Don't use passwords that are easily recognized while you are typing. For example, don't use a password with consecutive numbers or letters.
  4. Lastly, and most importantly, change your password frequently (every month is optimal).
  5. Good passwords are easy to remember, so they don't need to be written down and can be typed quickly. With Ascencia, people can't eavesdrop even if they see your screen; as you type your password it appears as asterisks on the your monitor screen.

Three strikes and you're out
At Ascencia we don't give unauthorized individuals the opportunity to enter random passwords and account information. If any password is entered incorrectly three consecutive times, account access will be blocked. The account can be reactivated by the authorized user contacting Ascencia's Customer Service Center and answering a few validation questions that only the authentic customer would know.

Don't forget to log out
Our Internet security measures are top notch, but if you forget to log off after an online banking session, it could compromise the security of your account. Ascencia will automatically log you off after a certain period of inactivity, but go ahead and log off as an added security measure.
